Mildred Hallman Key

April 10, 1920 — September 8, 2017

NEW ELLENTON, SC - Mildred Hallman Key, 97 daughter of John & Thelma Friday Hallman received God’s final blessing when He called her home September 8, 2017.      Mildred (aka Granny) was born in Graniteville, but resided in New Ellenton all of her adult life.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ollie M. Key, son, John M. Key, grandson, Marty Key and son-in-law, James F. Anderson.  She is survived by her sons Charles (Ann), Billy (Mickey) a daughter Ann Key Anderson, Daughter-in-law Shirley Key and special son Jerry Gresham. She also had 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.       She was the oldest surviving member of Talatha Baptist Church.  Dedicated to God’s work she served as a Sunday School teacher, member of the W.M.U., Nursery worker, VBS, choir member and assisted with every social function of the church.       She was loved by everyone who was privileged to have known her. God has never created a woman more loving and dedicated to her family than the one we call mama, granny or Mildred.  A going home celebration will be conducted at Talatha Church Wednesday afternoon, September 13th at 2 o’clock with Pastor David Lester and Pastor Jordan Bird officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends 1 hour before the service.       A special thanks to all the “care givers” for the loving attention given during her stay at Pepper Hill.       In lieu of flowers contributions to the Talatha Building Fund will be appreciated.
