AIKEN, SC – Mrs. Nancy Black Keppel, 81, beloved wife of Bert Anderson Keppel, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018. Born in Barre, VT Nancy was a daughter of the late John Leslie and Agnes Scott Black. She graduated from Barre High School. She attended Vermont Junior College and Becker College in Massachusetts. Nancy pursued a career in insurance. She underwrote policies for Vermont Mutual Life Insurance. After getting married, she worked for a variety of insurance agencies. Nancy was a true "foodie" and enjoyed cooking, dining, and discovering new recipes. She most enjoyed being a mother and a housewife. She loved animals, especially her dogs. She treated everyone she met with kindness. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Keppel is survived by one son, George (Ashley) Keppel, Highlands Ranch, CO; two grandchildren, Sophia and Jack Keppel, her sister Rose Farrar, and three nieces, Susan Farrar, Beth Thompson, and Nancy Farrar Coughlin. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Black, Jr. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 25, 2018 at St. John’s United Methodist Church Chapel with Rev. Nancy Reed officiating. The family will receive friends in Ward Hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made in Nancy's name may be directed to the Providence Presbyterian Church Capital Campaign Building Fund, 18632 Pony Express Dr., Parker, CO 80134.
