Neal Thompson

AIKEN, SC – ALLEN NEAL THOMPSON, 93, beloved husband of Dorothy Belle Kile Thompson, entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Monday, December 13, 2021 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

     Born in Statesville, NC, son of Ralph Moore Thompson and Lois Ballard Thompson, Neal grew up in Iredell County. He graduated from North Carolina State University before being drafted into the Army. He served in Panama during the Korean Conflict.  Neal then began a long career in the textile industry beginning with American & Efird Mills, Mt. Holly, NC.  He moved to Aiken, SC in 1983 to work with Graniteville Company, retiring in 1986 to establish Paragon Trading Company.

     Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Dot; two daughters, Millie Thompson Paton (Leslie), Googong, New South Wales, Australia, Susie Thompson Henry (George III), Gastonia, NC; five grandchildren, Oliver Paton, Lachlan Paton, Claire Paton, George Henry IV, Hadley Henry; four great-grandchildren, Marko Cerina, Olivia Paton, Henry Paton, Angus Paton; two sisters, Hilda McCormic and Nancy Mason; eleven cherished nieces and nephews. We are so grateful to God for his loving life, fun disposition and strong,  curious mind.

     Funeral services will be private.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Salvation Army (salvationarmyusa.org).
