Patricia A. Smith

AIKEN, SC – PATRICIA A. SMITH, 84, beloved wife of Donald F. Smith, passed away unexpectedly Monday, December 13, 2021 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

 A native of New Berlin, NY, Patricia was a daughter of the late Ronald and Arlouine Whitely Kenner.  She grew up near Hop Bottom, PA and married Don in 1956.  They moved to Aiken in 1974 when the Air Force transferred Don to the Aiken Radar Station.  Shortly after moving to Aiken, Patricia went to work at the old Aiken County Hospital as administrative secretary to the hospital administrator.  She worked for five administrators, retiring from Aiken Regional Medical Centers after 25 years in 2000.  She was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and was a member of Circle 7.  She was a former member of the Aiken County Bowling Assoc. and served as secretary.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxilliary Unit 26.

Surviving are her husband of almost 65 years, Don; daughters, Donna Leigh Racine (Russ), Havana, FL, Deanna Lynn Smith, Aiken; grandchildren, Andrew Busbee (Dixie), Jacob Busbee (Linh-Da), Sydney Goodlove (Blake Richardson), Zachary Smith, Ian Smith, Lindsey Surra, Jason Racine; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Pompey (John), Judy Pompey, both of PA; a niece, Cindy Burns; a nephew, Tracy Burns.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Dana Patrick Smith; a sister, Shirley Howell; two brothers, William Kenner and Freddie Kenner

A memorial service will be held Saturday morning, December 18^th at 11 o’clock in the Faith Center of St. John’s United Methodist Church with The Rev. Dr. W. Timothy McClendon officiating.  Inurnment will be in the church’s columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. John’s United Methodist Church.
