PATRICIA KOMAR VENETTA, passed away peacefully in Aiken, SC, on November 30, 2021 at the age of 90.
Patricia was born on July 22, 1931 to Mary (Garsig) and John A. Komar of Farrell, PA. She graduated from Farrell High School in 1949 and New Castle School of Nursing in 1952. She served in the United States Air Force Nurses Corps from 1953 to 1959. She was stationed at Hickam Air Force Base where she met and married her late husband, Colombo M. Venetta M.D. in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1958. They moved to Warren, Ohio in 1959 where they resided until 2001 and retired to Aiken where she enjoyed traveling, reading, needlework and gardening.
Patricia was strong, caring, thoughtful, loved celebrations and left a legacy in the community with her tireless volunteer work. She co-founded Trumbull Mobile Meals in 1970, an agency dedicated to providing home-delivered meals to Trumbull County Ohio residents. In addition, Patricia served on the Board of Directors for the Trumbull County Medical Auxiliary, the Visiting Nurses Association, Trumbull New Theatre Women’s Committee, Trumbull Art Guild and the Warren Civic Ballet. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Warren and St. Mary Help of Christians in Aiken.
Patricia will be fondly remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She leaves her daughters, Anne Marie and her husband Joseph Richard of Westford, MA, Mary Beth and her husband Ronald Barnes of Aiken, SC, Patricia and her husband Keith Holdaway of Durham, NC, and her son, Thomas and his wife Hope of Durham, NC. She also leaves ten grandchildren, Alex and his wife Julie Venetta, Sheila and her husband Steve Young, Patrick Richard D.M.D. and his sister Caroline, Ronny, Michael, Laura, and Gregory Barnes, Elyse and her brother Ian Holdaway, a great-grandson, Stevie Young, and Angela Venetta of Deale, MD. She is also survived by her brother Terrance Komar and his wife Nancy of The Villages, FL. Patricia was predeceased by her parents and her loving husband of 62 years.
The family will host a Mass of Remembrance and celebration of her life in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Trumbull Mobile Meals or the Alzheimer’s Association. In addition, the family would like to thank the caregivers at Westminster Memory Care-Aiken and Agape Care Hospice for their warmth and loving care.
