Aiken – Mrs. Penelope Pilotti Alexander, 82, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021.

Penny Alexander was born in Bridgeport, CT on the day after Christmas in 1938. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Stephanie Pilotti.  At age 5, she barely escaped the famous Barnum and Bailey Big Top fire in Hartford, Ct which she had attended with her grandfather. When Penny was in high school, she won the Barnum (of Barnum and Bailey's Circus) Festival Queen in Bridgeport, CT. An extraordinary honor at that time. She attended Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and later married the father of her 2 children, Naval Officer Stephen Nisbet. She also had a 15+ year career with Invesco Investment Management Firm in Atlanta. She was a Portfolio Manager and later a Compliance Officer with Invesco. After she retired she moved to California to assist her aging parents. After their passing, she moved to the city of her dreams, Aiken, SC. In Aiken, she opened the Iron Pony Antique Shop. This had also always been a dream of hers. She had been a member of the Aiken Garden Club and also had become an active member in the First Presbytarian Church. Additionally, she and her husband (Jed Alexander) actively supported and volunteered at ACTS in Aiken.

She is survived by her daughter, Brooke Nisbet-Yesilyurt who is a US Department of Defense School Teacher currently living and working in Turkey with her husband, Mustafa Yesilyurt; her son, Daniel Nisbet who is a tug boat captain and pilot living in Baton Rouge, LA; and her brother, Chris Pilotti who is retired and living in Oregon with his wife, Isabell Pilotti.

"Born 12/26/38. Lived and loved. Died 7/16/21. 82 years young. Fierce and independent. Sweet dreams." ~ Daniel Nisbet

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jed Charles Alexander.
