Penye A. Lunsford

Penye Aileen Lunsford, 86, passed away Friday, October 4, 2024 (her husband’s birthday), at Silver Bluff Grove Senior Living in Aiken South Carolina.

Penye was born on January 16, 1938 in Bay City, Mi. She was the daughter of the late Woodrow (Ferd) and Aileen (Davis) Gust. She married Jesse (Wayne) Lunsford on June 14, 1958.

Penye graduated from Midland High School in 1956. Penye was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Midland for many years and former member of Sunrise Baptist Church of Midland. She and Wayne lived in Lakeland, FL during the winters and in Michigan during the summer. They were members of Fellowship Baptist Church of Lakeland, Fl. The past few years, Penye has been living in Aiken, SC near her daughters where she was a member of Talatha Baptist Church.

Penye was a secretary at Emmanual Baptist Church in Midland. Penye enjoyed camping and travelling in their motorhome. She loved playing cards and games with her children and grandchildren.

But most importantly, Penye is remembered for her love for her Lord, Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible.

Penye is survived by daughters, Jan (Jeff) Miller of Aiken SC, and Pam (Joe) Miller of Cayce, SC; sons, Joe (Cathy) Lunsford of Midland, and Jim Lunsford of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Amber (Cisco) Gonzalez, JJ (Sarah) Miller, Josh (Stephany) Miller, Aaron (Gwen) Miller, Abby Miller (Chris Crescenti), Sarah(Greg)Lewis, Nathan and Tim Miller, Joey (Rae) Lunsford, Shana(Andrew) Rydman, Matthew and Nathan Painter. Sister-in-law, Lois Lunsford of Sanford; Great grandchildren, Zoe, J’Niya, Jonah, Liam, Cohen, Caitlyn, and Emersyn and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Penye was predeceased by her husband Jesse Lunsford, brother Frank Gust, and infant grandson Jason Lunsford.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday (with a 9:30 am viewing), October 11th, at Talatha Baptist Church, 361 Talatha Church Road, Aiken, SC, with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia SC next to her husband.
