AIKEN – Mr. Phillip James Lee, Jr., 29, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018. Phillip was born in Dillon SC, a son of Phillip James and Terry Rickenbacker Lee of Aiken.  He moved to Aiken in 1999, and eventually received a Bachelors Degree from Augusta State University.  Phillip was loved immeasurably by God, his family and countless other people. He was a loving son, brother, and uncle.He was a star athlete at Aiken High School serving as quarterback of the football team and pitcher on the baseball team. He was drawn to music during that time, teaching himself to play the guitar while sitting at home in front of the computer.  He began to lead worship at Cedar Creek Church in the youth area as a student volunteer.Phillip had a magnetic personality. He was capable of playing music from any genre, in any venue. He used his gift as an authentic and transparent worship leader as well as entertainer in the Aiken-Augusta community across the Southeast and in various locations on the West Coast.Phillip’s greatest God-given gift was in connecting  with the lost and hurting, on and off the stageHis music will live in our hearts forever. He is singing now at the feet of Jesus. In addition to his parents, Phillip is survived by his siblings, Rick Lee, Emily Lee, Ben Lee, and Katelyn Lee; paternal grandparents, Lucian R. Lee and Emily B. Lee.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dr. John H. and Sue Ellen Fowler Rickenbacker. A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM Monday, September 10, 2018 at Cedar Creek Church, Banks Mill Campus, and a Celebration of Life will begin at 6:00 PM with the Reverend David Hardy officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be sent to Penfield Christian Homes, 1061 Mercer Cir, Union Point, GA 30669, or Cedar Creek Church, in honor of Celebrate Recovery, Care and Counseling Ministry, 3001 Banks Mill Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
