Phyllis Gene Poore, 78, formerly of Washington, VA, passed away on October 12, 2024 in Aiken, SC after a short hospitalization.
Phyllis was born on September 16, 1946, the daughter of the late Gene and Elizabeth Whetzel. She was a resident of Washington, VA for most of her life, where she owned and operated Ash Tree Stables equestrian farm. In 2022, she retired from farming and moved to Aiken, SC.
Phyllis is survived by two sons, Lee (Karen) of Alexandria, VA, and Louis (Michelle) of Townsend, GA, and four grandchildren: Andrew, Teddy, Taylor, and Nicholas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Lee.
Phyllis was a loving mother and grandmother and a great friend to many. She enjoyed the equestrian lifestyle, farming, gardening, and caring for her many canine companions. Phyllis was a lifelong Christian, and she was an active member of Calvary Chapel Aiken.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Chapel Aiken on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 12:30 pm. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery in Aiken. Following the interment, a reception will be held at Calvary Chapel.
