Prudence Ann Laramore (Dee), gorgeous soul, passed away quietly on February 16, 2025, while hospitalized in Augusta, Georgia, with loving friends and family at her side.

Born on July 25, 1945, in LaPorte, Indiana, she was the only child of the late Honorable Don Nelson Laramore and Charlotte Mary Schminke Laramore.

Dee and her parents moved to Washington, DC, where she attended Immaculata High School. She continued her education at the University of Maryland, receiving a BA in English.

She then worked for the United States Department of the Navy before returning to the University of North Carolina where she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching.

Dee had an extensive career as a respected and dedicated educator. She retired from the Aiken County School System after teaching for thirty-two years.

She constantly ran across students whom she'd taught years earlier who inevitably recognized her and thanked her for being a favorite teacher. She was delighted when recognized and humbly enjoyed those gestures of goodwill.

She served on many local and state committees as well as Chair of the English Department at Aiken High School.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Delta Society for Key Women Educators and past member of the Sunshine Garden Club.

Dee was an avid reader, gifted gardener, aficionado of life's finer things, dedicated shopper, talented cross stitcher, gourmet cook and enlightened conversationalist. She lived a full life enriched by meaningful relationships.
She will be dearly missed!

Dee leaves behind her California cousins, Christine Esch, Kurt Schminke, Barbara Parsen and their extended families.

Of paramount importance are her adored adopted families living in South and North Carolina.

She will be fondly remembered by the sobriquet, Deezer, which was bestowed upon her by her beloved wards, Braden McCaskill and Woody, Roscoe and Obie Greene.

A Celebration of Life and interment of ashes will be announced at a later date.
