AIKEN, SC – RALPH FINLEY HARDIN, SR., 78, husband of the late Mattie Broughton Hardin, died Saturday, January 19, 2019 at his residence.
A native of Blacksburg, SC, Ralph was a son of the late James F. and Octavia Helms Hardin. He resided in Lugoff, SC, then married and moved to Columbia in 1964. Ralph worked as a maintenance mechanic and locksmith at the University of South Carolina. He transferred to Aiken in 1980 and retired from USC-Aiken. He was the retired owner of Aiken Lock & Key.
Survivors include daughters, Sherri Baker (Rob), Sandy Mundy; sons, Ralph F. Hardin, Jr. (Renee), Thomas Hardin (Barbra), Todd Hardin (Natalie), all of Aiken; eight grandchildren, Yolanda Barton, Davan Hardin, Diana Weyandt, Katelyn Hardin, T. J. Hardin, Jr., Tyler Hardin, Madison Mundy, Blake Hardin, four great-grandchildren, Adam Dabbs, Silas Hardin, Katherine Dabbs, Ivy Hardin; four sisters, Marie Sulzer (Billy), Lugoff, Matrell Causey (Hal), Cottageville, Patsy Smith (Henry), Lugoff, Myra LaFoy (Danny), Lugoff; four brothers, Furman Hardin, Lugoff, Arnold Hardin, Camden, Grover Hardin (Sue), Camden, Marshall Hardin (Diane), Cassatt. In addition to his wife and parents, Ralph was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Hinson.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, January 25th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Saturday morning, January 26th at 11 o’clock at the funeral home.
