Richela P. Strader

AIKEN, SC – Ms. Richela Phyl “Ricki” Strader, 73, passed away October 15, 2021. Ricki grew up in Canton, Ohio. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Canton. Ricki served as a nurse for the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. A lifelong learner, Ricki earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Akron University and later a law degree from Suffolk School of Law in Boston, MA. During her working career, she served as Risk Manager for Athens (GA) Regional Hospital and later, following her love for New England, she returned to Boston to work in Risk Management for the State of Massachusetts. In 2014, Ricki retired to Aiken to be with family. She made friends wherever she went and wholeheartedly embraced those in her life. She traveled, had diverse interests and proudly lived life to the fullest. Ricki is survived by a loving sister, PJ Blass (Dale), nephew Kurt Blass (Nasha), nieces Keri Blass Hill (Bid) and Wendy Blass James, great-nephews Dr. Zachary Buchanan (Hanna) and family, Devan Buchanan (Kendall) and family, Kurt Mateo Blass and great-niece Nicole Blass. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Frederick and Ruby Elizabeth Sovero Strader. A memorial service will be held 6:00 PM Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Shellhouse Funeral Home on Hayne Ave. with the Rev. Donnie Rogers officiating.
