Robert Loring Bristol

Robert Loring Bristol, 89, beloved husband of Joan Cowles Bristol, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Montclair, NJ, Bob was a son of the late Nelson Parker Bristol and Mary Louise Warner Bristol.  He was a graduate of the US Coast Guard Academy, Class of 1956.  He resigned his commission as Lieutenant Commander from the Coast Guard in 1963 under honorable conditions.  He then began a successful 30-year career in management with Westinghouse working in the nuclear field.  His assignments with Westinghouse included Resident Manager Charleston Naval Shipyard, Naval Reactor Facility Operations Manager at the Prototype Plant working on the Nautilus, Enterprise and Narwhal Prototypes.  He moved to Aiken in 1989 and served as the Nuclear Operations Manager at the Savannah River Site, retiring in 1993.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 52 years, Joan, include four children, Lydia Rynazewski, California, Richard Webb, Boise, ID, Teresa Lowe, Salt Lake City, UT, Cheryl Keller, Aiken, SC; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and his beloved pet Havanese Bentley. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Vining and a sister, Jeanne Gaito.

No local service is planned.

Bob will be interred in the Bristol Family plot, Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia, CT.
