Robert William Parker, Jr. entered into eternal rest on March 24, 2024 at his home in Aiken, South Carolina.
Rob, known as Bobby in early years, was born in September of 1989 in Norwalk, Connecticut. He lived his youth in Easton and Weston, CT playing basketball, baseball and other seasonal sports. He loved holidays and special occasions enjoying time with family members, cousins, his cat Simba, and friends. He moved to Orange, CT in 2003, graduated from the Amity High School System in 2008 while also developing skills and a love for computer gaming. Around this time and while attending college, Rob began experiencing medical challenges which ultimately affected his quality of life throughout much of his adulthood. Many remember a hope-filled Rob (Bobby) with a charming wit, big smile, engaging personality, loving spirit and gentle heart. He was a kindhearted son and baby brother who always loved giving big bear hugs. Medical challenges slowly began to overshadow his innocence. His struggles severely compromised many aspects of his health. He bravely and valiantly fought to overcome that which threatened his well being on a daily basis. His life, cut short like so many who struggle with similar health conditions, will be honored and remembered by his family and friends who mourn his loss and wish to celebrate the joy he brought during his happiest and most carefree times. Simultaneously, the family wishes to thank and recognize all of the many clinicians and treatment teams who gave their very best to Rob, his parents, and relatives to help him regain his healthy, true self.
Rob is survived by his lovable daughter, Arabella Russell of Homosassa, Florida, his parents Bob and Beth Parker of Aiken, South Carolina (Boynton Beach, Florida & Connecticut) and his three adoring older sisters; Emily Parker Johnston (Hunter Johnston) of Houston, TX, Sharon Parker Christie (Nicholas Christie) of Hamden, CT, Trina Parker Cardinal (Richard Cardinal) of Simsbury, CT and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
A memorial Mass will be held later this spring in Connecticut.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rob’s memory can be made to National Alliance on Mental Illness CT Chapter (namict.org) Mental Health Support, Education & Resources.
