Robert Scott Stone

Robert Scott (“Bobby”) Stone, 64, of Aiken, SC passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was born to Robert and Mavis Stone in 1954 in Saraland, AL. He graduated from Satsuma High and later married Jackie Ridgeway, his loving wife of 39 years. Bobby grew up an active outdoorsman and tinkerer - he was happiest roaming the woods behind his childhood home, fishing, water skiing in Bayou Sara, or building and fixing anything he could get his hands on, especially cars and motorcycles. Bobby developed the skills, creativity, and ingenuity to build or fix whatever he set his mind to. He applied this craft as a dedicated employee of International Paper for over 30 years, doing his part as a maintenance mechanic to keep the paper mills running. He began his career with IP in Mobile, AL before making his way to Augusta, GA, where he spent the remainder of his career with IP. Bobby talked often of the guys at work and loved them like family even if he did keep them on their toes with his sharp wit and persistent smack talking.   After living in Mobile, AL, Bobby and Jackie moved and lived briefly in Savannah, GA, before settling down in Aiken, SC to raise their three children in a house that Bobby built with his own two hands (with plenty of help from family and friends). Bobby worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He cherished Sundays at the lake with his family and days off to tinker in his shop and watch the occasional Hallmark movie. Bobby will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was full of life, funny, hard-working, and, of course, hard-headed. He will be missed so much. Those left to fondly remember Bobby are his wife, Jackie Stone; his children, Cameron Stone, Kellen Stone, and Chelsea (Chandler) Martin; his sister, Vanessa Yost, of Satsuma, AL; his granddaughter, Ella Martin; his nieces and nephews, Chris (Ashley) Yost and Courtney (Heath) Brown of Satsuma, AL, and Kyle deLlacer and Skylar deLlacer of Vancleave, MS; his great-nieces and great-nephews; his dog, Basey Stone, and grand-dog, Jackson Martin; and his family at International Paper in Augusta, GA. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mavis Stone of Saraland, AL. A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM Friday, November 16, 2018 at Shellhouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Fred W. Andrea III officiating. The family will then receive friends at the funeral home until 7:00 PM.
