AIKEN, SC – Mr. Robert "Bob" Edward Snyder, Sr, 90, beloved husband of Frances Veronica Eiholzer Snyder, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020. A private graveside funeral service with military honors will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2020, in Bethany Cemetery. Born in Bloomsburg, PA, Bob was a son of the late Allen Russell and Florence Heddings Snyder. He served in the Navy during the Korean War as a Machinist Mate (1st class) aboard the USS Borie. Bob earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He spent his career in the food processing industry designing, starting up, and operating food processing facilities. Bob’s love of family was at the forefront of his life. And the love of his life was Fran, whom he was married to for 64 years. They were truly best friends and were never apart for long. The grandkids loved their “Pepa” and he loved them unconditionally. Bob and Fran lived in Knoxville for the past 24 years before moving to Aiken in March. Bob was also committed to his faith and his love of God. He and Fran were a wonderful example of how to love God and live out their faith. Bob and Fran were members of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Knoxville for the 24 years they lived there. Bob was active in the Knights of Columbus, lead the rosary before Saturday evening Mass, and he and Fran were steadfast in their commitment to Adoration at the chapel. Golf was a hobby that Bob dearly loved and taught his boys to play. He would play with anybody and everybody, and the game fit his easy-going personality (most times)! In the past few years, Bob took up leather working, and he made special items for all of his family. He was spry and always looking to stay busy on either the golf course or using his I-phone to text his family. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his three sons, Robert “Bob” (Denise) Snyder, Jr., Aiken, Karl (Lisa) Snyder, Fenton, MO, David (Tashya) Snyder, Kingwood, TX; grandchildren, Kristin Snyder, Sara (Toby) Fulmer, Natalie Snyder, Karly Snyder, Emily Snyder, Joe Snyder, and Kaitlyn Snyder. Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Russell Snyder. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tn 38105 or St. Joseph’s Indian School, PO Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 57326. Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. SHELLHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 924 HAYNE AVE., AIKEN, SC 29801
