Ronald C. Jones

Ronald C. Jones beloved husband of Sandra P. “Sandee” Jones passed away Saturday morning, March 22, 2025 at home with his loving wife by his side. Ron was born November 13, 1941 in Rome, NY. He was the son of Clinton and Arlene Jones. The family moved to Verona, NY where Ron was joined by brother Robert K, and sister Karen Sue Peck, both of whom are predeceased. He is survived by his wife, Sandee, sister Gail Raynsford of Sherrill, NY and her husband Peter. There are several nieces and nephews and their children.

Ron was a very active student throughout grade and high school. He graduated from Vernon, Verona, Sherrill High School in 1960 where he excelled in all sports; Football, Basketball, Baseball and Track. He then was accepted at State University New York, Cortland as a Recreation Education Major. He maintained playing intramural sports. His first job out of college was Executive Director of the Oneida Youth Bureau and Parks Commission. He did substitute teaching and was an active member of the Central New York Certified Football Officials for 16 years. He was then recruited by Oneida Ltd. Silversmiths to manage their employees and retirees activities club and wellness center. This was a unique position because Oneida owned all their recreation facilities. (CAC Recreation Center with 12 bowling lanes, basketball court, billiard lounge, meeting room and fitness center. Outdoor facilities included 18-hole golf course, archery range and trap shooting. Lewis Point lakefront property with cabins to rent, picnic, swimming area, boat launch, docking space, bar and restaurant). While at Oneida Ron was elected President of the National Employee Services and Recreation Association.

After Oneida Ltd. Job, Ron established his own promotional products business. For a short time he worked in special sales for Hanover, Bostonian Shoe Co., a Clarks of England Company. It was in 1993 when he got reacquainted with Sandra Pratt who he knew at SUNY Cortland. Sandee was a teacher in Westport Connecticut. Ron moved to Connecticut where they married. He reestablished his promotional products business in Ridgefield, CT and Sandee remained teaching.

Ron is a past chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce. They retired in 2005 and moved to the Reserve Club in Woodside Plantation, Aiken, SC. He was active in retirement playing golf, skiing, traveling, hiking, hunting, reading and using fitness club facilities. He did a lot of volunteer work for the City of Aiken and at The Reserve Club. He served as chairman of the Tri-Crown Golf Classic to benefit Helping Hands, Inc. and Tri-Development Center of Aiken for many years. He was a member of the Hermitage Hunting Club in upstate New York for over fifty years.

A memorial service will be held Saturday morning, April 5th at 11 o’clock at St. Johns Methodist Church in Aiken, SC. The Reverend W. Timothy McClendon will officiate.  A reception will follow the service in Ward Hall.  Ron will be inurned in the church’s columbarium.
