Sammie O. King

NEW ELLENTON, SC – SAMMIE O. KING, 78, widow of James King, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at her residence.

A native of Murrells Inlet, SC, Sammie was a daughter of the late Sam and Lessie Jordan Outlaw. She lived in New Ellenton since the late 1950’s. She was active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives, sewing cheerleading uniforms for the old New Ellenton Junior High School and was also very active in the Silver Bluff High School Band Boosters. She was a retired lab technician with Westinghouse at the Savannah River Site.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Strader, New Ellenton, Janie Owen, New Ellenton, Joyce Smith (Don), Gastonia, NC; a son, James Riddle (Yvette), Aiken; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Cooper (Donnie), Eric Owen (Jacquie), Dana Daily, Crissy Phurrough, Michael Eller, Brett Crawford (Melissa), Bradley Crawford (Keri), Lynette Riddle, Jack Riddle; eight great-grandchildren, Luke Cooper, Tristin Hill, Brittany Hill, Lila Phurrough, Liam Phurrough, Mason Crawford, Lilyanna Crawford, Bryson Crawford, Payton Owen; a sister, Sandy Jones, New York City; a brother, Harry Jordan, Pawleys Island, SC. In addition to her husband and parents, Sammie was preceded in death by a daughter, Lessie Eller, a sister, Clara Fullwood and a grandson and his wife, Ryan and Holli Strader.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, February 23rd from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.

The funeral will be Saturday morning at 11 o’clock at St. Paul United Methodist Church in New Ellenton with The Rev. Robert Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brett Crawford, Brad Crawford, Eric Owen, Michael Eller, Donnie Cooper, Cody Ellison, Allen Owen and Keith Owen.
