Sarah Ruth Sykes

AIKEN, SC – SARAH RUTH SYKES, 71, died Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Anchor Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Huntington, NY, Sarah was a daughter of the late Lonnie Claude and Ruth Frances Beach Sykes. She received her masters in special education from the University of South Carolina. Miss Sykes lived in Aiken for 44 years and taught in the Aiken County Public Schools. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the Aiken Choral Society. Survivors include her sister, Virginia Sykes Freeman, Spokane, WA; her brother, Lowell Beach Sykes, Lynchburg, VA and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday morning, December 9th at 11 o’clock at First Presbyterian Church, followed by a reception.
