AIKEN, SC - SHELBY HALCAME ROSS, 81, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020 at her residence.
A native of Aiken, Shelby was a daughter of the late George and Bertha Brantley Smith. She attended the University of South Carolina before marrying David Lawrence Halcome and moving to Augusta. She lived most her adult life in Augusta, attended Augusta College earning her BS and Masters degrees in Psychology. Shelby worked as a child psychologist at Georgia Regional Hospital until her retirement. After David’s death, she married James Raymond Ross and moved back to Aiken in the late 1990’s. She worked in the emergency department at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Shelby was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and was formerly active with the WMU and a volunteer with Applefest. She was a formerly active with Georgia Mental Health and South Carolina Mental Health Associations.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Alyssa Halcame, Fort Collins, CO; two sons, David Anthony Halcame (Renee), Jefferson, GA, Christopher Troy Halcame, Cleveland, GA; grandchildren, Blake Halcame, Tyler Halcame, Madison Halcame, David Amp Gonzales, Connor Halcame, Savannah Halcame, Trinity Halcame; great-grandchildren, Weston Halcame, Grayson Halcame; a sister, Christine Wall (Norris), Charleston, SC.
The funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon, September 13th at 2:30 PM at St. John’s United Methodist Church with The Reverend Butch Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery, Augusta, GA.
