Sherene Ann Power

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sherene A. Power of Aiken, SC on April 7th at Piedmont Augusta Hospital, Augusta, GA.

Born August 10, 1946 in Auburn NY, Sherene was the daughter of the late Harlan P. and Constance Guyle Driscoll. In 1964, Sherene graduated from Marywood Seminary in Scranton, PA and married the love of her life, Gary B. Power. Together, they ran a dairy farm in Cayuga, NY until 1985 when they relocated to Aiken, SC. Sherene worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce prior to the birth of her children and at The Cayuga Home for Children once her youngest child was in school. After moving to Aiken, Sherene worked in Real Estate and then at the University of South Carolina-Aiken, where she retired from the Office of the Registrar as the Veterans Coordinator.

A communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Church, Sherene was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed and thrived at the beach, pool or lake and was a diehard Parrothead. She was very active in the lives of all of her children and grandchildren and will be very dearly missed.

Sherene is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gary Power; daughter Renee Jakaub (Shawn); son Sean Power (Carrie); daughter Carrie Katonak (Brian) and daughter Sara Barber (Matt); grandchildren Amanda Kelly (Matt); Kimberly Calhoun (Josh); Megan and Spencer Power; Lauren and Amy Katonak; and Lindsay and Lila Barber; great granddaughter Emma Jane Kelley; brothers Peter (Susan), David (Cheryl) and Dan (Cheryl) Driscoll as well as many nieces and nephews.
