Shirley Mae Shaw, beloved wife of Jim Shaw, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024 in Aiken, South Carolina. The battle is over, victory is now hers.
Shirley was born to Norman M. and Fern Mitchell Dinger on November 28, 1937 in Oliveburg, PA. Shirley was the youngest of twelve children and was nicknamed "the brat". She is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Chambers and Betty Caylor. She was preceded in death by the following siblings: Geneva Hoffman, Darl Dinger, Paul Dinger, Mary London, Annabelle Caylor, Clayton Dinger, Billy DInger, Ruby Burkett, and Norman Dinger, Jr.
Shirley attended a one room school house near their home in Oliveburg until she entered Punxsutawney High School, which she graduated from in 1954. After graduating, Shirley moved to Erie, PA where she worked for WSEE television station. She decided that home was better, and returned to Oliveburg and worked until marrying the love of her life, Jim, on February 22, 1957. Their daughter, Janice, was born while still living in Oliveburg. A year later, Jim and Shirley moved to Indiana, PA where their son, Gary, was born. They spent 18 years in Indiana before moving to Aiken. Shirley found the occupation that fit her personality perfectly, a realtor, and worked for Williams-Skeen, The Real Estate Shop and Meyhbom Realty until her retirement, helping many people find their dream home; some several times.
Shirley will be remembered fondly for her beautiful smile, welcoming personality and her matchy- match sense of fashion.
Shirley was a member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church where she served as membership committee chairman for many years, served as a deacon, and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Heart Board Ladies also.
Shirley and Jim loved to travel whether it be with friends, just the two of them, or on tours. She also loved to go to the beach with her family.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Janice Allshouse (Tim), Gary Shaw (Lisa); grandchildren, Jessica Allshouse Mickail (Ben), Megan Allshouse Pomputius (Dustin); step-grandchildren - Dustin Baker (Heather), Aric Baker (Brittany); great-grandchildren - Lecia Pomputius, Jaden Mickail; step great-grandchildren, Deagan Baker and Caleigh Baker.
