AIKEN – Spencer Thomas Barker, 16, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019.
Spencer was born in Southern Pines, NC, and had been living in Aiken with his father for the last three years. He was a junior at South Aiken High School. Spencer thought of everyone else first and he led with his incredible personality and love for his friends and family. When Spencer walked into a room, everyone knew it and his quirky sense of humor left most shaking their heads. He found laughter in places in life when no one else did...he insisted on it! He was incredibly talented and smart and perfected most everything that he decided he was going to learn, from musical instruments to sports and anything that challenged his mind.
Spencer grew up in Seven Lakes, NC, where he remained close friends with a group that he looked forward to reuniting with any time he could. Spencer's sense of adventure kept him on the go trying to find more, but at the same time he loved the comfort of the man cave that he proudly called his own and routinely show off to his Aiken friends. Like an angel, he touched people in his own specific way so that everyone he touched is better for knowing him. Spencer was one of a kind!
Spencer is survived by his parents, Ted (Jennifer) Barker of Aiken and Kym Copeland Barker of Maggie Valley, NC, a sister, Jordan Myers; brothers, Teddy Barker, Mitchell Myers; paternal grandparents, Jan and Thomas Barker of Aiken; maternal grandmother, Nancy Copeland, of Waynesville, NC; aunt and uncles, Nikki Copeland, Thomas Barker, Jr., and Tracy VanDenheuvel.
