October 17, 1950 — March 6, 2023

SUSAN ALBORN McKAY, 72, beloved wife of Mark K. McKay, passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 6, 2023 of natural causes in her home with her husband by her side

A native of Orange, TX, Susan was a daughter of the late Charles and Mildred Ellis Alborn.  She moved from Texas to Aiken in 1984 and worked for the Aiken County School District as an administrative assistant in the speech department.  She retired in 2012.  She was of the Baptist faith with a strong belief in God’s will and the hereafter.

Survivors, in addition to her husband of 44 years, Mark, include her daughter, Angela Peveto Piekielniak (John), Bear Creek, NC; her son, Ben McKay (Dr. Gillian Wolff), Troy, NY; grandchildren, Caleb and Taylor Torgesen, whom she adored; brother, David Carnley (Nancy), Newton, TX; sister, Mary West, Orange, TX; sisters-in-law, Francis Carnley, Jean Gunter both of Orange, TX; brother-in-law, Kevin McKay, Orange, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.  She also leaves behing her cherished fur baby, Rascal.  In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Alborn Rawls and a brother, Mike Carnley, both of Orange, TX

No local service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a favorite charity.
