AIKEN, SC - TARREL JEFFERSON CLARK, 90, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.
A native of Long Pond, GA, Tarrel was a son of the late Herbert F. and Lovie Fordham Clark. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean War aboard the USS Alshain. He retired from the Naval Reserves as a Petty Officer. Tarrel moved to Aiken in 1955 to work at the Savannah River Site and retired from the E & I Department after 44 years. He was a member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church where he was formerly very active, serving as a deacon and elder. Tarrel was a member of Aiken VFW Post 5877 formerly serving as Chaplain.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Neeley Robbins Clark, daughter, Delora Simmons (Dana); granddaughters, April Braddy (Kyle), Noelle Lyles (Gerald “LoLo”), all of Soperton, GA, Lauren Padgett (Sean), Dublin, GA; great-grandchildren, Riley Elizabeth Braddy, Braylie Grace Braddy, Brayden Clark Lyles, Hayden John Lyles, Hope Brynlee Padgett, Beau Cullen Padgett; daughter-in-law, Debra Bunton, Soperton, GA; additional children, Janice Woodley (Rance), Kenny Robbins (Bobbie), Lynda Bonds (Tony), all of Elgin, SC; 14 additional grandchildren and 24 additional great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wayne Clark (Laura), Forest Park, GA, Carlos Clark (Mary Nell), Soperton, GA, Wade Clark (Ann), Soperton, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Heber Herron, Lottie Snipes, Barbra Britt, Mary Ann Lynes (Jack), all of Aiken.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Dorothy “Dot” Herron Clark, a son, Ricky Ray Clark, brothers, Guy Clark and Elton Clark, additional children, Audrey Ward, David Robbins and his beloved dog Maddie.
The family will receive friends Monday afternoon, October 25th at 1 o’clock at South Aiken Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will follow at 2 o’clock at the church. Interment with military honors will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Snipes, Jake Keen, Keith Clark, Josh Woodley, Jason Woodley, Rance Woodley, Jon Milligan and Lee Robbins.
