Teddy A. Johnson

TEDDY ALBERT JOHNSON, 84, beloved husband of Gladys Childers Johnson, passed away Monday afternoon, August 12, 2024 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

A native of Greenville, SC, Teddy was a son of the late Elzie and Helen Gwinn Johnson. He served in the Marine Reserves. He moved to Aiken in 1957 and went to work for DuPont in 1962. He retired from Westinghouse in 1995 as a supervisor in the E & I Department.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 47 years, Gladys, include his daughter, Tami Meyer (Stewart), two sons, Alan Blackwell (Sheila), Ralph Blackwell (Mattie); eight grandchildren, Jennifer Allensworth, Lindsey Sommers, Danielle Meador, Stephen Blackwell, Dylan Blackwell, Jason Blackwell, Joseph Blackwell, Tessa Morgan; seven great-grandchildren, John Allensworth, Hailey Sommers, Brantley Sommers, Ashton Cudd, Kylie Blackwell, Ferris Blackwell, Cameron Blackwell; a great-great-granddaughter, Adeline Cudd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Meador, sister, Maxine Groff, brother, John Johnson.

The memorial service will be Thursday morning, August 15th at 11 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home with The Rev. Mike McAlpin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hillview Baptist Church, 1910 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Graniteville, SC 29829.
