The Rev. Marvin Edward Richardson

September 20, 1923 — August 16, 2019

AIKEN, SC – Reverend Marvin Edward Richardson, 95, beloved husband of Eula Maxine (Stewart) Richardson, passed away peacefully at the Benton House of Aiken, on the evening of Friday, August 16, 2019 at approximately 4:20PM. He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his death.     "Events that are filled with caring seem to remain with us," said Marvin when recalling his life. Marvin Richardson was born into a hardworking, loving family on September 20, 1923 in Frisco, Illinois. Along with a twin, he also had two older brothers, Glen and Meredith. In the first year of his life, Marvin and his twin brother, Melvin, contracted whooping cough and pneumonia. Marvin's twin died at the young age of eight months and 29 days. During The Great Depression, amidst hardship and tragedy, Marvin's father, a farmer and peddler of farm goods, worked diligently to keep food on the table. Not only that, he inspired the entire community with light and humor, conducting readings and performances of theatrical plays and monologues, of which Marvin participated. Life took on a turn of events, when Marvin's mother became ill with tuberculosis. After years of wasting away, she died in 1936 when Marvin was only 13. Between the two of them in the house, Marvin and his father upheld great conviction and inspiration as they exchanged domestic duties, all the while remaining positive and ever thriving. In Autumn 1944 Marvin married a local girl, Eula Stewart. He joined the Navy (WWII) shortly thereafter. Following the war, Marvin and Eula bought an estate in preparation for a life of farming. They had three children during this time, Alan, Daryl, and Rhonda. Destiny was divinely altered in 1954, when Marvin experienced a deep spiritual calling into ministry work. From there on, he touched the lives of thousands in his ministry, studying at various universities and seminaries, "pasturing" churches and public schools for over forty years. In his golden years, he continued to perform spiritual works, writingand cataloguing his life in Christ. Throughout his life, Marvin has been an inspiration to everyone he encounters. He will be greatly missed.     Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Richardson and Lucy Beulah (Fisher), his brother Byford Glenn Richardson and wife Lois (Ponder), his brother Meredith Fisher Richardson and wife Imogene (Vanhorn), and his twin brother, who died as an infant in 1924, Melvin Edwin Richardson.     In addition to his wife, Eula, of nearly 75 years, Marvin is survived by three generations of descendants.
