Dodie was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church for 68 years. She enjoyed singing in the choir, coordinating Wednesday night suppers, and participating in her Chapel Sunday School Class. One of her most fulfilling roles was recommending Jim Rivers as pastor when she served on the pastoral search committee. To quote Dr. Rivers, “I thank God for the woman who had the courage and insight to recommend me, Mrs. Dodie Lee”. Dr. Rivers served as pastor for 29 years. Dodie was an avid baseball fan, listening to games on the radio before games were televised. Her favorite teams were the New York Yankees and the Atlanta Braves. In her younger days, Dodie played golf every Tuesday at Highland Park Country Club. In addition to many tournament trophies, her golf resume included winning the Club Championship. Dodie and Skeet enjoyed each other and enjoyed life. Together with friends, they loved to dance, play cards, and travel to golf tournaments. They especially enjoyed attending US Marine Corps-First Division reunions across the country. Semper Fi. Family was always what mattered most to Dodie, and she enjoyed her large family reunions. She is survived by her two children, Brenda Lee (Rob) Shellhouse, Aiken; Dr. Ronald Dexter (Debbie) Lee, Aiken; grandchildren: Tricia R. Swartz, Breigh Anne (Graham) Hall, Meredith Lee (Lee) Prickett, Allison Lee (Jay) Nelson, Ryan Dexter (Stephanie) Lee; eleven great-grandchildren and a brother, Clarence “Sonny” (Priscilla) Haile of Louisiana. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dexter C. “Skeet” Lee; granddaughter, Tara Lee Shellhouse, and her six sisters. Brenda and Ronnie offer special thanks to Olga Navarro who lovingly cared for their mother for many years.
