Thomas W. Bruce

AIKEN – Thomas W. Bruce, 83, entered into rest May 23, 2018 at Augusta University Hospital, after a short illness.

He was born Nov. 27, 1934 in Sharon, TN, the son of Thomas Wilson Bruce and Ann Curlin Bruce.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jacqueline Gill Bruce.  He is also survived by his children, Elaine Bruce (Joe) Ormand, Aiken, Barbara Bruce (Lee) Baggett, Surfside Beach, SC, and Joanne Bruce, Aiken; grandchildren, Justin Ormand, New York, NY, Emily Ormand (Kevin) Huff, Summerville, SC; great grandson, Jackson Thomas Huff.

Mr. Bruce graduated Watertown High School, Watertown, TN in 1952, and graduated Tennessee Tech University, Cookeville, TN in 1956 with a BS in Electrical Engineering.  He worked for the E.I. DuPont Company for 36 years in Nashville, TN, Florence, SC, and Wilmington, DE where he was Principal Consultant, Corporate Personnel Relations, retiring in 1996 to Aiken, SC, where he enjoyed golfing, fishing with his buddies, and dancing with his wife in several dance clubs.  He belonged to Millbrook Baptist Church, previously belonging to First Baptist Church, Florence, serving as a deacon, and Hockessin Baptist Church in Wilmington, DE.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM Saturday at Millbrook Baptist Church, and the funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM.  Reverend Dr. Jimmy Harley will officiate.  Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Justin Ormand, Kevin Huff, Joe Ormand, Lee Baggett, Hank Welch, and George Clary.
