Thomas Clayter Campbell, Sr. passed away suddenly, Monday, August 26, 2024.
Thomas was born December 15,1931 in Blaney, SC, and was married to Hazel Peeler on June 27,1954.
His parents were Thomas Edward Campbell and Carrie Iola Goff Campbell. He was a graduate of Blaney High School and attended University of Georgia and Augusta College. He retired as a Principle Engineer from Westinghouse, Savannah River Site after 40 years employment.
He served the community in PTA, coaching baseball, football as well as serving as a SC High School Football Official. He was a faithful member of Millbrook Baptist Church since 1955 and had perfect attendance of more than 33 years in Sunday School; during that time he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and on various committees and other positions. He enjoyed the fellowship of friends and the many travels before and after retirement.
Surviving are his son Thomas C. Campbell, Jr. of North Augusta, SC, sister Vivian C. (Harvey) Gardner, all of Elgin, SC, sisters-in-law Maxine Campbell of Elgin, SC and Frances Clamp Campbell of Columbia, SC. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Claude E. Colbert H. and Charles E. Campbell.
The funeral service will be Thursday morning, August 29th at 11 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home with The Revs. Bill Howard III and Chris Masters officiating. Entombment will be at Southlawn Mausoleum, 4524 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home 1 hour prior to funeral.
Thomas expressed his gratitude to the many relatives and friends who ministered to him through prayers, cards and other caring ways during the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Millbrook Baptist Church, 223 S. Aiken Blvd., Aiken, SC 29803.
