AIKEN, SC – CAPT THOMAS MADISON OSBORNE, USNR, RET., 80, beloved husband of Jeanne Smith Osborne, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at his residence.
A native of Old Hickory, TN, Tom was a son of the late Malcomb M. and Willie Appleton Osborne. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the United States Navy in the Pacific and retired as Captain from the Naval Reserves after 30 years. Tom lived in Aiken since 1981 and retired from DuPont / Westinghouse at the Savannah River Site after 33 years of service. He was an active member of Aiken Church of Christ
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 58 years, Jeanne, include his son, Thomas M. Osborne, Jr. (Bonnie), Bluffton, SC; his daughter, Tassie Hargrove, Savannah, GA; two grandchildren, Samantha Hargrove and Sullivan Hargrove; his brother, Michael Osborne (Barbara), Garner, NC.
A private graveside service will be held Thursday, January 14th in Beaufort National Cemetery with Minister Craig Middleton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Southeastern Children’s Home (sech.org) .
