Thomas Jenkins Pons

AIKEN - Mr. Thomas Jenkins Pons, 80, beloved husband of Margaret Pons, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, December 11, 2017 at South Aiken Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Brian Coulter officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Born in Valdese, NC, Mr. Pons was a son of the late Frederick and Iola Britt Pons. He graduated from NC State and worked as a chemical engineer for Owens Corning. Mr. Pons was a member of Palmetto Golf Club and South Aiken Presbyterian Church. He was devoted to God and his family and thoroughly enjoyed a good round of golf with his friends.  Mr. Pons lived a life of kindness, joy, and generosity.  His infectious spirit and zest for life touched the lives of everyone he met. In addition to his wife, Mr. Pons is survived by his three daughters, Angela (Walter) Clifford, Aiken, Phyllis (Mark) Berlacher, Charlotte, NC, Marlene (Mike) Tiernan, Port St. Lucie, FL, and six grandchildren, Thomas, Emory, Evy, Lydia, Margaret and Quinn, as well as his brother, Frederick (Saundra) Pons of Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa O’Brien. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to South Aiken Presbyterian Church, 1711 Whiskey Rd, Aiken, SC 29803.
