W. Wayne Franklin

AIKEN, SC – W. Wayne Franklin, 78, beloved husband of Brenda Perry Franklin, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018.   Born in Aiken, Wayne was a son of the late Glenn Willie and Iris Bryant Franklin. A lifelong resident of Aiken, Wayne worked as a cost accountant for The Graniteville Company. He was a graduate of USC-Aiken and was a member at St. John United Methodist Church of Graniteville.   In addition to his wife of 57 years, Wayne is survived by a daughter, Angela Franklin McIntosh, Aiken; one grandson, Tyler Jordan McIntosh, Aiken; two brothers, Barry Bryant Franklin, Myrtle Beach, SC, Robert Michael Franklin, Graniteville, SC , several nieces and nephews,  and many friends including one who was more like a sister Margaret Kneece, Graniteville, SC.   Wayne touched many lives with his kind spirit. He was a hard worker and was always ready to help his family, friends and neighbors.  He dearly loved his family and spending time outdoors.  If he wasn't in Aiken he could usually be found in his favorite swing overlooking the water at their home on Lake Murray.    In lieu of flowers and food, memorials made in Wayne’s name may be directed to St. John’s United Methodist Church, Graniteville, PO Box 38, Graniteville, SC 29829, or the USC Aiken Foundation, School of Business Scholarship Fund, 471 University Parkway, Aiken, South Carolina 29801.    The family wishes to thank Daybreak for their love, support, help and kindness during his battle with cancer.   In honoring Wayne's wishes, a private family Celebration of Life gathering will be held..  SHELLHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 924 HAYNE AVE., AIKEN, SC 29801 (803)642-3456Wayne's online guest book may be signed at www.shellhousefuneralhome.com To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of W.
