Wade Hampton Jones III

AIKEN, SC – WADE HAMPTON JONES III, beloved husband of Gayle O’Connor Jones, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at his residence.

Born in Covington, KY, Wade was a son of the late Wade Hampton Jones, Jr. and Eva Hartnett Jones.  He grew up in Boston, MA and graduated from Boston College.  He had a long career in sales in the textile industry.  Wade loved his wife and children and adored his grandchildren.  He was an avid Boston sports fan.  He lived in Aiken since 1983 and was volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 54 years, Gayle include his son, Kevin Jones (Judette Floyd), Covington, GA; his daughter, Karen Buchanan (Kevin), Aiken; two grandchildren, Connor Wade Buchanan and Eva Rose Buchanan; three sisters, Ann Jones and Judith Brady, both of New Hamshire and Elinor Lottero, Watertown, MA.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Philip Jones.

A memorial service will be held Thursday morning, May 27^th at 11 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends following the service.
