W. Ernest Busbee

AIKEN – Mr. W. Ernest Busbee, 97, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Mr Busbee was born in Graniteville, SC, a son of the late Walter and Verlie Hatcher Busbee.  He served in WWII with the US Marine Corps, and was a member of the Marine Corps League, James L. Hammons detachment. He was a charter member of Memorial Baptist Church, was very active with the youth at church, and was one of the first Deacons.  He enjoyed spending time at his cabin on Lake Murray and fishing. He is survived by his daughter, Donna DuVall, Aiken; granddaughter, Kristin DuVall, North Augusta; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Florence Emeneker Busbee. A visitation will be held beginning at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 28, 2018, and the funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM in the Shellhouse Funeral Home chapel with the Reverend Charles Jenkins officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers will be his nephews.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Marine Corps League.
