JACKSON, SC - WALTER “SUNNY” L. CLEMONS, 98, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022 in Anchor Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
A native of Garden Grove, CA, Sunny was a son of the late George Colton and Margaret Thompson Clemons. He attended Fullerton Junior College for a year before entering the U.S. Army Air Corps at age 19. He served as a pilot and was a 2nd Lieutenant during World War II. He worked as an aeronautical engineer until 1972. He moved to Jackson, SC in 1996 and was a member of Jackson Bible Church.
Survivors include his children, Kathleen Moore, Keith Clemons (Kathryn), Christine Jeffery, all of Aiken; grandchildren, Matthew Musolf, Martha Ruthven, Garratt Jeffery, Heather Clemons, Eric Jeffery, Jonathan Jeffery, Amanda Jeffery, Melody Clemons; fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Sunny was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Norma Jean Carter Clemons.
A graveside service will be held Monday afternoon, May 9th at 2 o'clock in Fort Jackson National Cemetery with The Rev. Clint Smith officiating.
