Warren Louis Bane

November 14, 1944 — May 7, 2020

AIKEN, SC - Warren L. Bane of Aiken, SC, born Nov 14, 1944 to Herman and Jane Bane, passed away on May 7, after a several month-long illness.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Bane, his daughter Melanie Sutherland, grandchildren Morgan and Cole Sutherland, and his brother Ralph Bane of Rogers, Arkansas.

Warren grew up in Northern Virginia and received a BS in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of South Carolina in 1973.  He served in the US Navy for several years and then pursued a successful career in commercial banking. He married his high school sweetheart, Randi Bane, and the two welcomed their only child, Melanie, in 1974. Warren’s proudest achievement was that of being a father. Though he and Randi separated, they remained friends and confidantes throughout his life. In later years, Warren used his engaging personality working in real estate...a second career he enjoyed and passed on to his daughter, Melanie, who followed in his footsteps as a Realtor in Richmond, VA.

Warren met Karen later in his life and felt very blessed to have found a soulmate with whom to spend his retirement years. The two undertook many endeavors together, including running the popular “Silver Spider” gift shop and two Bed and breakfasts in Fredericksburg, VA. Never one to let grass grow beneath his feet, Warren brought Karen to Aiken to live out their retirement years sunning by the pool and watching his beloved Gamecocks. Warren was loved by many and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his faith, his wit and cutting sarcasm, his love for animals, his ability to always see the silver lining, and his deep love for his family.
