Wendy Joycelyn Phillips-Clarke was born in Georgetown, Guyana, South America, formally British Guyana, on April 1, 1951. She was born to the late Reginald and Hyacinth Jeffrey. She was one of eight children born to Hyacinth. She received her first degree in Business administration and biblical studies. In 1971, she migrated to USA and worked on Wall Street as a secretary before moving to South Carolina, where she finished her degree in nursing. She worked at Eisenhower, Aiken Hospital, Select specialty Hospital and Medical College of Georgia now Augusta University Medical Center. She worked at AU Medical Center for over 30 years, spending most of her time in Shock Trauma Intensive Care Unit. She was a member of Whole Life Ministries.
In 1973 she was married and had her first daughter Anika in 1975. In 1986 and 1987 she had two more daughters, Christine, and Shauna. She married Raymond Clarke in 1995.
She is survived by her husband Raymond, daughters Anika, Christine, Shauna, Faye, and Theresa. Her grandchildren Moriah and Chris. Her siblings Esmond, Bruce, Fitzpatrick “Neil”, Frederick “Jr”, Julian, Philip, Monty, Beryl Ann, and, Ava. Aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and tons of friends and associates.
She was a loving, caring, and hardworking woman of God. She loved to take care of others and was always available when she was needed. Her smile, laughter and generosity touched the lives and hearts of everyone she encountered. Her memory will remain strong in all our lives. She will truly be missed.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM Sunday, January 24, 2021, at the funeral home, and a graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
