AIKEN – Mr. William “Bill” Edmund Ritger, 82, went to sail with his Captain on Friday, June 8, 2018. Bill was born in Queens, NY, a son of the late William Otto and Wanda Ann Gumowski Ritger. Prior to moving to Aiken in 1990, Bill served in the US Navy, and was stationed on the USS Albany. He was also a former plant and equipment manager for the US Postal Service. Bill loved to hunt and saltwater fish, to fix and build things, and especially loved his latest project, a boat he built named “The First One”. He was also a Mason and a Shriner. He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Ann Venning Ritger, and many other relatives. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home chapel with the Reverend Steve Cheek officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
