William J. “Buddy” Murray, Sr., 89, of Findlay, OH and formerly of Aiken, SC, passed away on March 1, 2018 at The Heritage, Findlay, OH. Buddy was born in 1928 in Summerville, SC to the late William Henry Murray and Myrtis Patrick Murray. He married Harriet Reeves in 1953 and she passed in 2016. Their children include: William J. (Jerry) Murray, Jr. (Susan) of Findlay, OH; David H. Murray (Marie) of Aiken, SC and Mildred Hanlon (Trevor) of Havelock, NC. They have eight grandchildren: Kitanya, Elliott, Shane, Mikayla, Ian, William, Amanda and Robin. Buddy’s brothers and sisters included Inez Robbins, Wilhelmena Murray, Agnes Sexton, Helen Connell, Alvin Murray, Tom Murray, and Milton Murray; all of whom preceded him in death. Buddy was a family man who loved his wife Harriet and was proud of his kids and grandkids and all they accomplished in their lives. He loved people and his sense of humor and outgoing personality created many friends. Buddy enjoyed camping, fishing, red pick-up trucks, a little dog named “Rex”, and gathering with family and friends in laughter around a meal he expertly cooked on the backyard grill. Buddy was a Korean War Veteran and he was honored to participate in Honor Flight and the Korean War Veterans Association. Buddy was a lover of life. He loved to sketch, paint and create objects of art in his workshop. Despite poor health in his later years, he fought for the opportunity to live. He was a cat of many lives and with each health challenge he persevered and fought until finally, it was time to go home. If there is a dance floor in heaven, Buddy and Harriet are home, doing “the Shag” to beach music and celebrating together. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, OH 45840.
