Aiken – Mr. William Frederick Mitchell, 75, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.
William was born in Chicago, IL, son of the late Elmer and Ruth Bordell. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Myong Mitchell, daughter Ann Owen, son James Mitchell and grandchildren Olivia, Alexis, Asia, Erika and Meika. William was a proud veteran of the US Army, retiring after 23 years of service. He had served in Vietnam, Korea, Turkey, Germany, Japan and numerous locations within the United States. He retired from service in Georgia and then continued working at the Savannah River Site until a second retirement. He has lived in New Ellenton for over 25 years and had served the community as Water Commissioner.
A visitation will be held beginning at 10:00 AM, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 20, 2024, at South Aiken Presbyterian Church, Reverend Jason Hammersley officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
