William "Will" Shingler Mize

William “Will” Shingler Mize of Los Angeles, California, age 23, died on October 31, 2018. He grew up in Aiken, SC with his parents Sam and Alma Mize, brother Smith and sister Elisabeth. Will had moved across the country to find a new life among friends from Aiken. Born on his grandfather’s 65th birthday, Will was a gift to his family and friends. His puppy dog sweetness drew people to him his whole life. Will was compassionate almost to a fault. He did not recognize how cool he was. Survivors include his parents Sam and Alma Mize of Aiken, SC, brother Smith Mize of Chicago, IL, sister Elisabeth Mize of Aiken, SC, grandmother Donna Mize of Spartanburg, SC, girlfriend Elizabeth Roemer of Los Angeles, CA, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and his good dog Rocko. Services will be held Monday, November 5, at 4pm at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry Street NW, Aiken, SC with the Rev. Dr. Tim McClendon and the Rev. Nancy Reed officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held directly after the service in the church fellowship hall. There will be a private inurnment at a later date. The family requests that memorial gifts be made to Friends of the Animal Shelter, fotasaiken.org or the Aiken County ASPCA.
